I am not crazy about daycare centers, because when babies are that young, they are not really social, and I think they need a lot of attention. Max just like Egg likes nothing more than play with our stuff instead of his collection of toys (which I spent hours selecting on the web). He likes to eat books too! And he has not started to talk, but he does bite us (and the other kids). Egg seems like a great kid. I am now reading a fantastic book called "Child of mine". It is about feeding children, but the principles in the book could be applied to everything else. I highly recommend it, since you seem to be a bit worried about food (and who isn't?).Marie-Baguettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01149548077358647791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2687720633955485205.post-21069025481989230102009-03-11T17:18:00.000-07:002009-03-11T17:18:00.000-07:00She sounds delightful! Champ goes to daycare 3 days per week and even though he loves it and I can see some benefits, I sometimes feel like I should be there all the time for him.Redhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08050880029224884665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2687720633955485205.post-10916218113572168132009-03-11T14:16:00.000-07:002009-03-11T14:16:00.000-07:00Haha, I too thought I would be 'rewarded' for my t...Haha, I too thought I would be 'rewarded' for my troubles with a baby that would cry all day and PPD.
Thank goodness my girl was sweet-tempered and I too enjoyed a certain level of euphoria.

Missing out on day care? Endless snot share-a-thons. :-) A LOUD and DEMANDING voice. Learning how to snatch toys from other children.
All right, there are good things too. Picking up skills from other children, learning to share, learning to wait for their turn.

It hadn't occurred to me yet to give Linnea crayons, so I can't speak from experience. I think I'll wait a while longer.Lut C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/03893061829410958985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2687720633955485205.post-28339951349387218462009-03-10T12:36:00.000-07:002009-03-10T12:36:00.000-07:00Sara - You sound like a textbook mom, as I think w...Sara - You sound like a textbook mom, as I think we all worry at some stage that our child isn't "normal" or is falling off some chart or other. It is a challenge to accept our child for the individual she is, be it a co-sleeper or a crayon-eater. Eggbert sounds like a free spirit who knows what she wants and how to get there. You and Mystery just need to continue to follow along, she knows she has good parents behind her (quite literally!).
Sometimes I think my 1-year-old knows more about what life's all about than I do!
RoseAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2687720633955485205.post-11838852820770667342009-03-10T11:29:00.000-07:002009-03-10T11:29:00.000-07:00i also expected a really hard newborn period with ...i also expected a really hard newborn period with PPD and colic and all sorts of other horrors. we were also spared and i'm now finding the toddler stage MUCH more challenging than anything else so far. they really do gravitate toward the worst possible objects/scenarios. it is a major trial of patience when they can only communicate so much.

i agree Egg sounds perfectly right on track. piper didn't learn to color until she sat in restaurants 100's of times where kids always get crayons while they wait. and she still gets them taken away every time because she'd rather eat them. what is it that makes those wax sticks so irresistibly tempting??Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01587725139301198392noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2687720633955485205.post-68209922595098090262009-03-09T22:27:00.000-07:002009-03-09T22:27:00.000-07:00Sara, your little Egg is perfectly on track. The textbook does say that all babies develop at different rates and she's clearly doing that in a variety of areas.

That all the other moms seem to be reenacting TV commercials with their babies is surely a factor of selective attention.

Eggbert sounds delightful!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
