35

My doctor in Korea emailed me back. My risk of Down Syndrome was estimated at 1:35. How sad is it that I was happy with those numbers? It was 1:200 based on just my age. Still, that means that in 34 out of 35 cases, the baby won't have DS.

Is it too much to hope that I'll be on the right end of the odds this time?

Oh sara, I am so so sorry that you have to go through this. I hope hope hope so much for you. I'm not sure if you are aware that Mony at "Mrs. Negative" is going through a similar thing right now. You'll find her link on my blog. I'm thinking about you and keep my fingers crossed the you are one of the 34 lucky ones.

Hugs.

I wish your blog could continue to be nothing but "yays." I really hope you'll be on the right side of the odds with this.

I don't think it's too much to hope for, and I'll be hoping with you.

The quad test is an evil thing. My doctor refused to let me take it because I suffer from anxiety. She said the number of false postives are so high that I just waited for the ultra sound at 18 weeks. The results of that gave us the right ratios for the bones and the nuchal fold was fine.

Good luck. I hope you are just another false positive.

so to reiterate my other comment, we've been on the slim side of the odds so far, why not now? i'm hoping for you.

I was told 1 in 70 if I remember correctly. We cried for 24 hours before getting the results of the CVS: the baby was normal. I am hoping for the best for you. Those stats are evil.

You know, it seems the nuchal results make most everyone worry -- even me and my results brought the risks down from those based on my age alone.

It's frightening to contemplate invasive testing (CVS, amnio), if that's what you're doing, but also agonizing to wait until the 18w scan for confirmation without the invasive testing.

You're right that we've been on the slim side of the odds so many times that it's hard to imagine being lucky enough to get into the majority that are just fine this time, but all you can do is hope and hold on.

Let's hold hands?
My 1 in 24 risk factor has me giddy. I going to lean on you & visa versa.
We can do this....right?

not sure I told you but CVS will make you crampy for a couple of days. Don't freak out. I hope mystery man can be with you. The CVS itself is a bit painful (please don't look at the thing) but it is very short. Just bite into your hands and you should be fine. I am thinking of you a lot

I happened upon your blog when I googled IF clinics in Korea. Would you be able to give me some contact info for you RE?
